Location and Language Series
This two-part series offers an interpretive examination of the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Endorsement in the United Methodist Church. The first essay considers where this ministry is located within the Church’s structure and why that placement matters for authority, responsibility, and accountability. The second examines how the ministry is described in the Book of Discipline across time, tracing how shifts in language shape understanding. Together, these essays provide a framework for recognizing both the structural and descriptive dimensions of a ministry that is often present in practice but less visible in the Church’s formal life.
